House Rules Mahjongg (“House Rules,” “we,” “us”) is a free website for learning and practicing mahjongg. We’ve tried to keep our data practices as small as the product: no account is required, and we don’t ask for your name, email, or payment to use the site. This policy explains what we do collect and why.
Information we collect
We collect anonymous usage analytics to understand how the site is used and to improve the lessons and practice tools. This includes:
•
Pages and screens you view, and interactions such as taps and button presses.
•
General device and browser information (for example, browser type, screen size, and operating system).
•
Approximate, city-level location inferred from your IP address. We do not collect precise GPS location.
We do not ask for or intentionally collect information that identifies you personally, such as your name or email address.
Information stored on your device
Your learning progress and practice sessions (for example, completed lessons and a saved practice game) are stored locally in your browser or device, not on our servers. Clearing your browser storage removes this data.
How we use information
We use analytics only to operate and improve House Rules — to see which lessons are helpful, find rough edges, and prioritize what to build next. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Service providers
We use PostHog for product analytics; usage events described above are processed on our behalf. Our website is served by a static web host that may log standard request information (such as IP address and user agent) to deliver and secure the site.
Downloads
The printable scorecard and cheat sheet are files delivered from the site. Downloading them does not require any personal information.
Children
House Rules is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because no account or personal detail is required to use the site, we do not build profiles of individual users.
Your choices
You can limit analytics by using your browser’s “Do Not Track” or tracking-protection features, or by clearing site data at any time. The lessons, practice tables, and downloads remain fully usable either way.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. When we do, we’ll revise the “last updated” date above.
